Orange Pineapple Cottage Cheese Salad makes a wonderful quick and easy dessert salad for a family meal or take-along dish to share with others. It’s so simple to make and deliciously light, bright and fluffy! Another bonus? This recipe has just five ingredients!!
I really can’t say where this lovely salad first originated. Although I do remember eating something similar to this at many church events when I was growing up. The delicious combination of flavored gelatin, cottage cheese and whipped topping could be paired with any number of different fruits to provide variations to this dish.
The recipe I’m sharing with you today is one of my favorite variations. Orange Pineapple Cottage Cheese Salad is very simple to make, so, with just a few ingredients, you’ll have a delicious dessert-like, cold fruit salad for your family and friends to share!
To make Orange Pineapple Cottage Cheese Salad, begin by adding the cottage cheese to a medium mixing bowl. Then stir in the package of dry gelatin mix. Let it sit for a few minutes so that the gelatin can begin to dissolve.
Next, drain the pineapple and then add it to the cottage cheese mixture and stir gently to mix well.
Fold the whipped topping into the Orange Pineapple Cottage Cheese Salad. The whipped topping gives the salad it’s light, creamy and fluffy appearance and texture.
After the whipped topping is combined well, add the fruit flavored mini-marshmallows and stir to combine.
Next, after mixing well, pour the Orange Pineapple Cottage Cheese Salad into a seal-able container. Allow salad to chill and hour or so before serving.
If you’re feeling adventurous, add a small can of Mandarin oranges (drained), shredded coconut and/or coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans to Orange Pineapple Cottage Cheese Salad. These flavors and textures will amp this delicious salad up to another level! Yum!!
