45 minTotal Time
2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 t. Worcestershire sauce
½ t .black pepper
¾ c. quick oats
2 T. canola oil
2 T. butter
8 oz. cremini mushrooms, sliced
¼ c. flour
2 c. beef broth
1 t. garlic & herb seasoning
In a large mixing bowl, whisk eggs until light. Add Worcestershire sauce and onion soup mix to eggs and combine well. Set aside and let rest for 10 minutes.
Crumble ground beef over egg mixture and mix well.
Add oats and mix by hand to incorporate well. Add canola oil to skillet and heat through. Add steaks to hot oil and cook, over medium heat, approximately 3-4 minutes per side, or until both sides are seared and juices run clear.
Remove from skillet and cover to keep warm.
For the gravy:
In the same skillet, add the 2 tablespoons of butter and sliced mushrooms. Sauté mushrooms for 10-15 minutes until tender.
Add the flour to mushrooms and stir together to make a paste and cook briefly to brown slightly. Stir in beef broth and garlic seasoning. Stir constantly until gravy is thickened. Add steaks to gravy and spoon gravy over steaks.
